The Humboldt Bay Mycological Society (HBMS) is pleased to announce our annual Fungal Research Stipend in the amount of $800 to support research in the field of mycology.

The stipend recipient will be invited to share their research in an in-person presentation at the HBMS general meeting on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, in Arcata, CA. The presentation will be scheduled during a speaking block from 7:45–9:00 PM.

Application Deadline: July 1, 2025

Eligibility

• The stipend is open to anyone conducting research in mycology. Enrollment in an academic institution is not required.

Recipient Requirements

The selected applicant will be expected to:

1. Give an in-person presentation about their research at the HBMS meeting on September 17, 2025.

2. Prepare a slide show to accompany their talk.

How to Apply

Applicants should submit the following materials:

1. A brief letter including:

• A short bio about yourself.

• A description of your research.

2. An outline of how you plan to structure your presentation.

3. A statement confirming your availability and willingness to present in person, with slide show, at the Sept 17, 2025 meeting in Arcata, CA.

4. A short letter of recommendation from someone familiar with your research.
